Wow, what a page turner。This is book 2 in the Sunshine Vicram series。 This book starts with a blind date, marauding raccoon and violent stabbing, it's all in a day's work for Sunshine and her team。 If you like snarky dialogue, great family, a slow burn romance, a good mystery and looking into cold cases you are in for a treat。 I would highly recommend this book。 Wow, what a page turner。This is book 2 in the Sunshine Vicram series。 This book starts with a blind date, marauding raccoon and violent stabbing, it's all in a day's work for Sunshine and her team。 If you like snarky dialogue, great family, a slow burn romance, a good mystery and looking into cold cases you are in for a treat。 I would highly recommend this book。 。。。more

I truly have mixed emotions about Darynda Jones’ second Sunshine Vicram offering A GOOD DAYFOR CHARDONNAY。 The plot was passable if not plausible, the humor more than amusing (I loved the “sign” quotes that kick off the beginning of each chapter) BUT seriously。。。。 the men must all be gym rats- - - from Sunshine’s big and brawny co-worker to her strong, silent love Levi – a cut and chiseled hunk of burning flesh, to her 15 year old daughter’s boyfriend Cruz - - yet another hunk with “incredible p I truly have mixed emotions about Darynda Jones’ second Sunshine Vicram offering A GOOD DAYFOR CHARDONNAY。 The plot was passable if not plausible, the humor more than amusing (I loved the “sign” quotes that kick off the beginning of each chapter) BUT seriously。。。。 the men must all be gym rats- - - from Sunshine’s big and brawny co-worker to her strong, silent love Levi – a cut and chiseled hunk of burning flesh, to her 15 year old daughter’s boyfriend Cruz - - yet another hunk with “incredible pecs and a smile like a nuclear bomb”。 Are there no average looking guys in this town? As for Sheriff Sunshine’s sexual encounters- - - all I can say is I must be getting old since I find I can do without the graphic sex described in not only this narrative but in most current books。 For this reader, not only does it do absolutely nothing to advance the storyline in most instances it detracts from the flow of the plot。 Guess it's pretty obvious that my personal bucket list does not include vicarious sexual encounters。While I did not read the first book in this series, I was able to piece together “what came before” in Sunshine’s life and her relationship to the other characters in this tale, all of whom seem to have secrets。 It appears that if one were planning a trip to the fictional Del Sol, New Mexico it would be a good idea to bring along a knife, to assure blending, since it which appears to be the weapon of choice in this town。 How many stabbing victims can you count?Overall, not a bad read but………。。 definitely not in my top ten for 2021。。 。。。more

I loved that Cruz found out how much he and his father were loved by the town and have no doubt that things will be ok for him going forward。Finally Sunshine has some movement on her past, the missing time and where her daughter came from。 I'm happy for this on so many fronts, first because Sunny needs to know, 2nd because it's as I had hoped。 Now it doesn't mean that the trouble is over, but we are closer to Sunshine being able to live her life free and happy! On a side note, I totally loved the incredible awkward sex scene between Sunshine and a would be match, I could not stop laughing and think the right choice was made there。 I'm also really intrigued to find out more about this secret society and how it will go with the new members。 。。。more

I will round this up from a 3。5。 There was too much going on。 Sunshine is having flashbacks regarding her abduction when she was a teenager。 There is a sighting of a young boy who was abducted when he was five that involves a ponzi scheme and an assassin。 The mayor wants her to find out if the Dangerous Daughters really do exist and her own daughter, Auri, thinks Mrs。 Fairborn, an elderly woman who confesses to all the crimes committed in Del Sol, is possibly a serial killer。 Auri and her boyfri I will round this up from a 3。5。 There was too much going on。 Sunshine is having flashbacks regarding her abduction when she was a teenager。 There is a sighting of a young boy who was abducted when he was five that involves a ponzi scheme and an assassin。 The mayor wants her to find out if the Dangerous Daughters really do exist and her own daughter, Auri, thinks Mrs。 Fairborn, an elderly woman who confesses to all the crimes committed in Del Sol, is possibly a serial killer。 Auri and her boyfriend are injured and there is a mystery surrounding his Dad。 Add in Sunshine's ongoing attraction to Levi and I felt like things were missing from each of the stories。 I didn't care for the ending。 It was too open ended for my liking and really obvious that there will be a third book。 Some of the dialog seems silly and I did laugh out loud a couple of times but it was the right book at the right time。 I like all of the characters and wish I had a family tree for those Ravinders。 Will I read the next book? A GOOD DAY FOR CHARDONNAY is the second instalment in Darynda Jones’ contemporary, adult SUNSHINE VICRAM mystery, suspense, and of-times humorous series focusing on thirty-three year old, Sheriff Sunshine Blaze Vicram and her fifteen year old daughter Aurora ‘Auri’。 A GOOD DAY FOR CHARDONNAY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and cohesion as there is an ongoing premise throughout。Told from dual third person perspective (S A GOOD DAY FOR CHARDONNAY is the second instalment in Darynda Jones’ contemporary, adult SUNSHINE VICRAM mystery, suspense, and of-times humorous series focusing on thirty-three year old, Sheriff Sunshine Blaze Vicram and her fifteen year old daughter Aurora ‘Auri’。 A GOOD DAY FOR CHARDONNAY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and cohesion as there is an ongoing premise throughout。Told from dual third person perspective (Sunshine and Auri) A GOOD DAY FOR CHARDONNAY follows several paths including Del Sol, New Mexico sheriff Sunshine Vicram in the wake of a vicious stabbing, and hit and run at a local bar that left too many questions for our story line heroine。 With the stabbing victim in the hospital, and his injured friend and Sunshine’s love interest Levi Ravinder on the hunt for the people responsible, Sunshine and her team of police investigators begin a search for the truth。 Meanwhile, believing her eighty year old neighbor Mrs。 Fairborn is a serial killer, Sunshine’s daughter Auri, along with her friends Cruz and Sybil, begin an investigation of their own, only to place themselves in the direct line of fire。 As Sunshine continues to search for Levi Ravinder, and the truth about what happened and why, secrets and lies are revealed pulling Sunshine into the past when her life spiralled out of control。 A prisoner serving a life sentence for murder wants to come home but his story begins to contradict everything Sunshine thought to be true。The world building continues to focus on the abduction, fifteen years earlier, of our story line heroine Sunshine Vicram, and the aftermath that would change her life forever。 Without any solid evidence as to the who, how and why, Sunshine’s memories of that fateful time slowly begin to reveal a heart breaking connection, and the possibility that what she believes isn’t even close to the truth。The colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters include Levi Ravinder, his sister Hailey, and their uncle Wynn; Sunshine’s parents Cyrus and Elaine Freyr: Sunshine’s best friend and fellow law enforcement officer Chief Deputy Quincy Cooper; fellow law enforcement Poetry Rojas, Deputies Zee and Salazar; Auri’s besties Cruz De los Santos, and Sybil St。 Aubin; as well as Keith Seabright, a mercenary for hire。 The requisite evil has many faces。A GOOD DAY FOR CHARDONNAY and the SUNSHINE VICRAM series reads similarly to the author’s Charley Davidson series- a best friend, a love interest who remains secretive and aloof, a great team of supporting friends and characters, a couple of teens who begin a series of investigations, and the snark, sarcasm, humor, giggles and laughs that add a little bit of ‘Sunshine’ into your life ;) A GOOD FOR CHARDONNAY is a detailed and complex story of family, betrayal, secrets, greed, murder and love with spirited characters, a tragic back story, and a heart warming and twisted love affair that has been buried by secrets and lies。www。thereadingcafe。com 。。。more

I needed to know。 I also had several theories concerning Sunshine's abduction, rescue, and Auri's parentage that I wanted to see if I was right about。 (Spoiler alert: I was。)As usual there are multiple mysteries going on within one book。 There's the main mystery, Keith Seabright getting stabbed。 Who did it? And how does it relate to Sunshine's first unsolved case of her detective career。 There's also the ongoing search for the Dangerous Daughters rumored to run the town。 Sunshine still doesn't know the details of her abduction and rescue due to retrograde amnesia。 And then also Auri begins researching a series of missing persons cases that she believes points straight to Mrs。 Fairborn。 Darynda Jones wraps all of these mysteries together in just the right way。One of this author's talents is bringing her characters to life。 Every single character comes off the page no matter how little of a part they have in the story。 Sunshine, Levi, Quincy, Auri, Cruz, Sybil, Poetry, Zee, Mrs。 Fairborn, Sunshine's parents, Wynn, Jimmy, even Keith Seabright who technically never even had a scene but was only mentioned feels like a complete character。I really feel like I should have much more to say about A Good Day for Chardonnay, but I don't want to spoil anything。 I've had little time to read since Baby Boy was born in January, and I devoured this book。 I even sacrificed sleep (okay okay just a potential nap) in order to finish。 The next book will also be on my most anticipated list for next year。 A Good Day for Chardonnay gets 4。5 Stars。 I can't wait for more。 Have you read A Good Day for Chardonnay? What did you think? Let me know! 。。。more

Amy,
Sunshine Vicram continues to adjust to life as Sherriff of the small community of Del Sol, NM。 She's the mother of a great but headstrong teenage daughter, lives next to her supportive but sometimes meddling parents, and is in love with a man who may or may not be in her best interest。 In addition to the cases that present on the job, she is also working to solve the mystery of her own abduction when she was a teen。 This book was a good as the first in this series, A Bad Day for Sunshine。 It's l Sunshine Vicram continues to adjust to life as Sherriff of the small community of Del Sol, NM。 She's the mother of a great but headstrong teenage daughter, lives next to her supportive but sometimes meddling parents, and is in love with a man who may or may not be in her best interest。 In addition to the cases that present on the job, she is also working to solve the mystery of her own abduction when she was a teen。 This book was a good as the first in this series, A Bad Day for Sunshine。 It's lighthearted, fun, and fast-paced。 It reminds me of the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich, but less outlandish。 Sunshine's world is filled with wonderful, well-developed characters, and the plot moves at a satisfying pace。 The audiobook, narrated by Lorelei King, is very well done。 King adds depth to the characters and does a fantastic job capturing unique voices for them all。 There are a couple of pretty steamy scenes, which seemed a bit out of left field for me-they just seemed a bit more in depth than what I would expect for this type of novel。 I highly recommend this book (and series) for anyone looking for a nice, hilarious cozy mystery, and I'm really excited to see what comes next for Sunshine! 。。。more

And I have to admit it was a good thing I did, as I had misremembered a couple of key points – interestingly, possibly for my own sanity, I had made some decisions about what happened, so I could feel okay about things。 Thankfully, this book addressed those floating issues, and I was not far from the mark!I utterly adore the character of Sunshine, she has just the right level of strength, vulnerability, wit, and values。 Her daughter, Auri, is pretty amazing too – and definitely gets some free rein in this book。 The ever present and vigilant Levi is a sight for sore eyes, and so loyal, so caring, and, I think to the reader, so obviously involved。。。 it is just understanding the how and the why。I am still somewhat devastated that her memory loss over her kidnapping and rescue has resulted in so many years of confusion。 I am not sure how I would feel about those around me knowing, if I were her。 I keep rationalising it, but it is a lot。 Thank goodness the clues help her process much of it as it comes back to her in flashes, and that her family and friends are near。I rather raced through the book, desperate to get the key parts of the story revealed, and warn you that it is a danger, so make sure that you are well prepared to do little else than read once you have started。 There are lots of crazy sidelines, but the main story is strong enough to carry the distractions。 I am going to have to get friends to read this, so I can discuss how we would feel in these circumstances。 It has been playing on my mind and will for a long while to come – I get the logic, I get the sense of it, but I still think it is horribly sad。A much anticipated read, and it did not let me down。 I will be looking out for more – ever hopeful!Veronica – ☆☆☆☆☆This book had everything I love in the story。 Mystery, action, danger, an amazing love story, great friendships, lots of fun and crazy characters, and it is all set in a small town。 This story gave me all the feels。 Sometimes I laughed at crazy antics, other times I was on the end of my seat as various characters were in grave danger, sometimes I swooned because Levi is just everything, and an incredibly moving scene towards the end of the book had me crying so hard I woke up my husband who was sleeping beside me。Sunshine is a pretty amazing woman and you’d need to be amazing to be the sheriff of this crazy town。 There is so much going on in Sunshine’s work and personal lives, I don’t know how she managed to keep all the balls in the air, but she does。I loved every single minute of this story whether I was laughing, cringing, or crying。 A GOOD DAY FOR CHARDONNAY is a brilliant story, but it can’t be read as a standalone。 This is an ongoing series so if this grabs your attention, make sure you start off by reading the first book in the series, A BAD DAY FOR SUNSHINE。 I don’t know how many books the author plans to write in this series but I hope there are still many more to come because this is one of the best I’ve ever read and I want more。Shelby – ☆☆☆☆☆A GOOD DAY FOR CHARDONNAY is the second book in the Sunshine Vicram series。 These books need to be read in order, and I highly encourage it as this builds on the first。I have loved every book I've read by Darynda Jones, and this is no exception。Sunshine is a small-town sheriff, she is a [single] mother (of an awesome child), she is an amazing daughter, and she is head over heels in love with her high school crush。 She has no downtime or ‘me’ time。 Knowing this, I need to mention that she has the best sense of humor and seems to just roll with the punches。I love every single character in this series, and they all have distinct personalities。 There is never a dull moment mainly because the town is a bit zany, but also because there are so many situations that need Sunshine's attention。Aurora really shines in this book and is coming into her own。 Wanting to follow in her mom's footsteps, she (along with her boyfriend and best friend) have their own case to solve。I can't really classify this story under just one type: it’s partly mystery and suspense, it's humorous but sometimes serious, there is drama and romance, but bottom line I couldn't put it down。I really want more Levi, and can't wait for the next book!Sarah – ☆☆☆☆☆Two books in and I have girl crush levels of love for Sunshine Vicram。 Smart, funny, and growing in confidence, Sunny manages to be both fierce and relatable。Caught between eccentric parents and her wildly imaginative teenage daughter, Sheriff Sunny attempts to impose a little law and order on both her family and her strange little town。 The results are often laugh out loud funny。 Sunny’s creative policing is oddly successful。 There’s a fantastic balance between silly and serious in this book。 In this second book, Sunny’s investigations are exciting and well-paced。 Running alongside the series storyline about Sunny’s historic abduction is a second investigation into a violent attack in town。While I enjoy Sunny’s investigations, it’s the development of relationships in this book that I love。 Sunny and Auri, Sunny and her parents, Sunny and Levi… The relationships in this book are complicated, messy, loving, and life-affirming。 I expect that every woman over 35 will find something to enjoy in Sunny’s perfectly observed and immensely relatable life。 I’m already looking forward to the next book。Reviewers received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads。 。。。more
